What does sustainability mean for the art world?
“SUSTAINABILITY AS THE NEW LUXURY”
For decades, the nature of art has been to deal with the limits and extremes of the future and the problems of humanity. Creative solutions in combination with tried and tested methods combined with advanced techniques lead to completely new creations.
This is why also eco-friendly art has been expanded upon in recent years as society begins to become more conscious of their impact on the environment and future of our planet. Because sustainability requires a reconsideration of how we consume, manufacture, and design art and objects, it provides the opportunity for artists and designers to rethink their approach. Sustainable art blurs the line between science and design for the benefit of both the audience and the environment.
While the policies are evolving at a high level, the idea of sustainability is also impacting the daily lives and work produced by individual artists. Upcycling, the art of creating from material previously deemed unusable, unwanted, or broken, is a form of sustainable art that has gained traction. In a large part due to the world’s growing plastic problem, artists use materials that would otherwise be in landfills to create their work. Upcycling is also a guiding force behind a brand-new industry, as it has proven valuable to artists who are looking to make something unique, environmental-friendly, and loved by consumers.
We at LOREMO are therefore developing our Start-Up towards sustainable environmental standards right from the start and have therefore started with a nearly CO2 emission free approach. Our interior color & style consulting focuses on a so-called "digital first" approach instead of environmentally harmful car journeys, which allows us to offer our consulting services via digital media independent of any location. We only purchase canvases that are made from natural materials and according to fair trade standards. All our artists work with breathable, diffusible and non-toxic organic colors, which are also suitable for allergy sufferers.
“EVERY CHANGE IN SOCIETY AND IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STARTS ON A PERSONAL LEVEL.“
